Bed rest is hard!

When I was put on bed rest I didn't realize how hard it would be. The truth is I didn't know how long I'd be on bed rest. When we were given the news we thought that the baby would come soon that we give bed rest to try. That was almost 4 weeks ago.

Don't get me wrong I am so glad that the baby has stayed inside! I just hope he continues to stay where he is.
Now back to the topic of bed rest and why is so hard. Basically I have to stay in bed or laying on the couch. I am allowed to get up to make simple meals for myself like a turkey sandwich, use the restroom, and shower. Any other responsibilities my husband has to take care of. He has a lot on his plate.
On bed rest there isn't much you can do. I spend my days watching Netflix, Reading books, and playing games on my phone. Afterwhile those things get old.
My body is starting to get sore from laying in bed all day. It takes a toll how you feel emotionally. It is hard.
The good news is but I am still pregnant. And as the days by the odds get better for baby boy. So yes bed rest is hard but if this is helping him to stay in a little bit longer then it will be worth it.

Why I am on bed rest?

I have been on bed rest for three and a half weeks.

I went in for my routine ultrasound at 21 weeks. Everything looks fine with the baby but my cervix was extremely thin. It only measuring 7 mm. So you have a better idea what that means. A normal cervix is usually about 40 mm.

The OB I saw that day sent me straight to the high-risk hospital. I was so scared and had no idea what this meant. I was checked and examined and had another ultrasound at the high-risk hospital. They confirmed that my cervix is extremely short. The doctors at the hospital told me that they had no idea what the outcome would be. I could go into labor today tomorrow or maybe a few weeks from now. That is really scary news for someone who is only 21 weeks along where the baby has no chance of survival.

So I went home and had to wait it out. A miracle happened and I made it to 23 weeks. At 23 weeks I was able to get steroid shots to strengthen the babies lungs.

Now here I am at 24 1/2 weeks and I am still pregnant. I am so grateful for each and every day that our baby is able to grow. It truly is a miracle! I hope he continues to grow as long as he can.

In a large bowl, combine stuffing mix and butter.  Set aside 1/2 cup for topping.  Add the zucchini, chicken, soup, carrot, onion and sour cream to the remaining stuffing mixture.  Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish.  Sprinkle with reserved stuffing mixture.  Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

My firstborn, Remington...

It has been awhile since I've posted about Remington.  The past year my blog has been a lot about Campbell & his growth.  Now it is time to talk about Rem.

Remington started full day kindergarten this fall.  It was the perfect fit for him.  Being in school all day really keeps him busy.  He is the type of kid that gets bored very easily.  In some ways, he still is like an "only" child since Rem & Cam are 5 years apart.

Rem's favorite thing to do is playing with friends.  He loves being out and talking with others.  Rem will go up to anyone in our neighborhood and ask them what they are doing.  He definitely isn't shy.  Total opposite from me.

When he isn't playing with friends you can find him playing with bey blades, cars, wii, or with the iPad.

Despite the age difference between Remington & Campbell, they play so well together.  Rem loves playing with his brother.  I love it!

Even though Campbell is the "baby".  Rem LOVES to cuddle far more than Campbell does.  I'm glad because I definitely need the cuddles right now since my miscarriage.

It has been so fun to see how much Rem has grown in the past year.

Back to normal

Finally.  Its only been two weeks.  It seems like forever.  I am feeling like my normal self again.

The hardest part was that week after my D&C.  I don't think I've cried that much in a long time.  I need it.  Now I feel like I can move on.

I had my 2 week follow up from my surgery today.  The first thing my doctor asked me was how I was doing.  Then he added "how are you doing emotionally?".  I was honest.  The first week was hard but I THINK I am doing okay now.  I haven't cried in over a week.  That is good sign, right?  I have my sad moments but I feel like I've mourned my loss and ready to get on with life.

We also chatted about my plans for the future.  Yes, we plan on getting pregnant again.  How soon? Not sure.  It depends on how long it will take for me to gain 15 lbs.  I hate being the minority.  Gaining weight for me is such a struggle.

I think my biggest strength to me right now is my boys.  I have been blessed with two healthy boys; 6 year old and 1 year old.  They keep me busy so I don't really have time to dwell on my loss.  I'm grateful for that!  Having them here also shows that I can have a healthy pregnancy.

I have learned from my miscarriage that I would LOVE to have kids close together.  So even though we weren't trying to get pregnant, I know that I want to have a baby in the near future.

So life is back to normal.  As normal as it can be.  Rem is back to school.  Cam is suddenly my baby again.  Nate is back to work.  I am feeling well enough to clean and be a mom.  I'm glad for that.
